Together against plastic waste - with our soulincubators
Drinking a beer after work together, a round of table football during the lunch break - we at soulbottles were really looking forward to the soulincubator teams moving into our Tempelhof headquarters, which was actually supposed to take place on April 1, 2020. But as John Lennon once said: "Life is what happens while you're busy making other plans." Yes, COVID-19 happened and has sent us all to the home office until further notice, soulies and incubator scholarship holders alike: #WeStayHome. As New Work professionals, we quickly moved the second phase of the soulincubator to the World Wide Web and celebrated the virtual arrival of the initiatives together with beers, group gossip and Taboo via video call. Community breakfasts and expert calls have been taking place weekly in the digital space since the beginning of April. The project teams keep themselves up to date in video conferences and Slack channels.
13 Teams, One Mission: Ending the Plastic Crisis
13 teams, 13 ideas, one goal: Rethinking the way we use plastic in everyday life together. In October 2019, a total of 101 projects had registered for our funding program, and in January 2020 the jury selected the best projects for Phase II based on careful criteria. The selected teams will now receive a scholarship of 1,500 euros from the European Social Fund for each funded member and will learn a lot about various entrepreneurial topics in weekly sessions, from retail and marketing to business development and logistics. Thanks to this support, the project teams can concentrate fully on expanding and scaling their concept.
We don’t want to keep you in suspense any longer and proudly present our finalists from Phase II – we are sure that they will achieve and make a difference!
Curtain up: These are the projects of Phase II
anti-plastic campaign
Ordinary hand dishwashing detergents are packaged in plastic and contain around 80% water. Carolin Möllenbeck and Jan Markus Schütz from the anti-plastic campaign leave out the water. Customers transform their powdered hand dishwashing detergent into liquid dishwashing detergent themselves by adding tap water. In this way, Carolin and Jan reduce the transport volume and do without plastic packaging altogether.
Recycle on the spot
Recycle on the spot facilitates decentralized recycling of plastics. The goal of the three founders Christian Rühlmann, Moritz Wussow and Susann Noe is to capture material flows at the source and process them on easy-to-use systems in order to return them to the circular economy. Recycle on the spot makes recycling sensible and profitable!
